In spite of the presence of seven former olympians on the New York Athletic Club team, including Kim Vandenberg (USA), Brett Fraser (Cayman Islands) Roman Sludnov (Russia) and Matt Target (Australia), Badger Swim Club of Larchmont, New York took home the Title at Senior Metropolitan Championships.

Senior Mets is a grueling, four day trials and finals meet and Badger led the combined competition throughout the event. The overall score varied throughout the meet with Badger being up by 216 points to the 17 point victory they attained to take the win. Badger swimmers train with the goal to compete against the best in the world, and once again, they rose to the challenge. The women, led by Anina Lund, Maria Oceguera, Caroline Poleway, and Nathalie Eid were among the top, high point scorers. They placed second in the women’s competition (by 32 points) to a New York Athletic Club team led by Olympian Kim Vandenberg. The men, led by Ryan Feeley, Nick Schwab, Patrick Conaton, and Richard Mannix won the men’s title outright over the NYAC by 49 points: 869 – 820. Eight women and fifteen men combined to score 1382 points.

Senior Mets has, and continues to be, one of the fastest LSC Championship meets in the country. This year, over 1000 swimmers from the Metropolitan area converged on Lehman College’s APEX Center to compete. It was one of the fastest Sr. Mets in history. The meet records themselves are a tribute to the history and the talent of Metro Swimming.
