On November 27, 2018 Badger will participate in #GivingTuesday– a global day dedicated to giving.
What is #GivingTuesday? #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. It has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy. #GivingTuesday is celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.
In 2018, on Giving Tuesday, Badger families, alumni, and friends donated to the Badger scholarship fund to help offset the high cost of swimming for families in need, as well as to help fund the Badger pool heater, which allowed our swimmers to train outdoors until mid -October this year! Thank you to all those who made the above possible.
This year, Badger is once again going to be asking for your support on Giving Tuesday. Badger Swim Club is a non-profit 501c-3 charitable organization and donations are tax deductible up to the fullest extent of the law. Speak with your accountant for specific details.
Support #GivingTuesday by making a donation to Badger Swim Club to help swimmers continue to grow, improve, and become the best they can be, in as out of the water.
2018 Giving Tuesday Goals
Sponsor a Swim Experience
Send Badger swimmers to Geneva, Switzerland to compete internationally.
The ever increasing cost of travel has impacted the ability for swimmers to compete outside the Metro area. However, it is important to a swimmer’s career to do so. At a minimum, Badger would like to raise enough to offset the cost of airfare for as many as 15 swimmers to get to Geneva. The approximate cost of airfare is $1200 round trip. With extreme generosity we will be able to help fund housing and meals.
Support Team Spirit
Sponsor Senior Mets pre-meet dinner, snacks, special gear and more!
Senior Mets is an exciting meet for Badger swimmers and a chance to compete against the best swimmers in Metro Swimming. It is a long standing tradition for the swimmers and their families to get together before the meet for a kick off dinner and for John to provide special shirts or tokens of recognition for those swimming in this meet. We rely on Badger parents to organize and host this event, however, like most things, this is a large expense for families to take on. Your donation will help to keep this tradition going by offsetting the expense for the host family.
Sponsor the Badger Bus
Help swimmers get to and from Lehman College for practice.
For the past few years, the Badger Bus has run from Badger to Lehman and back on weekdays to help get swimmers to practice on time. The cost of running the bus has become too expensive to keep this service operating, but there is still a demand for it. If we raise enough money to fund the bus, we will once again be able to offer this transportation service.
Support The Badger Scholarship Fund
Help swimmers who need financial support to keep swimming.
Swimming is expensive and not all swim families have the financial means to pay the full cost of swimming. Badger has always believed that financial ability should not prevent kids from having the opportunity to swim competitively. Your donation could help make a huge difference for many families who need our support to keep their swimmers in the pool.
We know these are lofty goals and that donations come in all sizes. As we approach Giving Tuesday, we hope that you will consider funding one of these goals in some way, so Badger may continue to create experiences for swimmers that last a lifetime.
